KX3 News — U.S. / Global Edition

Google opened preorders for Googlebook on September 21, 2026, launching a new premium laptop category built around Android, desktop foundations from ChromeOS and deeply integrated Gemini intelligence.

Five launch partners, starting at $899

The first Googlebook lineup comes from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google says prices start at $899 in the U.S. Preorders are open now, with devices reaching U.S. stores on October 4. Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Australia follow on October 5.

AI is part of the operating model, not an add-on

Googlebook includes features such as Magic Pointer, Rambler voice dictation and proactive Gemini assistance based on what is on screen. Developers also get a full Linux terminal environment and can run tools such as Claude Code and Antigravity CLI locally.

The lineup starts with at least 16GB of RAM and includes systems using Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Snapdragon X Elite processors, with configurations offering more than 45 TOPS of NPU performance.

What it means for U.S. buyers

Google is positioning Googlebook above traditional low-cost Chromebooks and directly in the premium laptop market. The $899 starting price puts it in competition with mainstream MacBook and Windows systems, while its strongest differentiator is Android phone continuity and Gemini-first software.

KX3 perspective

The bigger shift is architectural: Google is treating AI as part of everyday PC interaction rather than a separate assistant window. For local and hybrid AI products, that approach favors modular tools that can be invoked from normal workflows instead of concentrating everything in a single chat screen.
