Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 for agentic AI phones
Qualcomm has unveiled Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, two new flagship mobile platforms built around on-device agentic AI, advanced gaming, imaging and connectivity.
KX3 News — U.S. / Global Edition
Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 on September 22, 2026, expanding its flagship mobile lineup with a strong focus on on-device agentic AI.
A new 2nm flagship generation
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is built on a 2nm process and combines Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, a rearchitected Adreno GPU and an upgraded Hexagon NPU. Qualcomm says the higher-end Extreme version is the first mobile CPU platform to reach 5GHz and positions it as its most powerful mobile platform yet.
AI reaches graphics and cameras
Adreno Neural Fusion applies AI to graphics workloads to improve visual quality and efficiency, while new imaging features such as Advanced Professional Video support and Intelligent Pixel Control aim to improve scene understanding and image processing.
What U.S. buyers should expect
Qualcomm says devices using the new platforms will come from HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo and Xiaomi. Exact U.S. availability will vary by brand, but Motorola and OnePlus give the platform a clear path into the U.S. premium Android market.
KX3 perspective
For developers building local AI, the significance is that agentic workloads are becoming a first-class silicon target. That should make smaller always-available models, multimodal assistants and more context-aware mobile apps increasingly practical without relying on cloud inference for every interaction.
