Meta Ray-Ban Display adds cycling and transit navigation, Hologram calls and wider availability
Meta is adding cycling and transit navigation, contextual walking directions, Hologram video calling, notification mirroring and new on-glasses experiences to Meta Ray-Ban Display, while expanding sales beyond the U.S.
KX3 News — U.S. / Global Edition
Meta announced a major feature expansion for Meta Ray-Ban Display on September 23, 2026, adding more navigation, communication and app-like experiences to its display-equipped AI glasses.
More hands-free navigation
Cycling turn-by-turn directions and real-time public transit departures are scheduled to roll out in the U.S. and Canada. Walking directions are also becoming more contextual, using visible landmarks such as a yellow house instead of relying only on street names.
Hologram adds a digital face to hands-free calls
Hologram creates a photorealistic digital representation of the wearer after a short setup in the Meta AI app. Meta says the avatar’s expressions are inferred from the user’s voice. Early Access is planned for WhatsApp users in the U.S. later this fall.
Explore, notifications and calendar features
Meta is adding an Explore app for glasses-specific experiences, richer calendar controls and mirrored phone notifications. The glasses can also capture video with Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
U.S. online ordering starts now
Meta Ray-Ban Display starts at $799. Online ordering is now available in the U.S., and Meta is expanding the product to Canada, the U.K., France, Italy and Germany.
KX3 perspective
The useful part of smart glasses is increasingly the ability to surface small pieces of information without requiring a phone. Navigation, notifications and quick AI assistance are good examples of tasks where a wearable can reduce friction instead of simply duplicating a smartphone screen.
